Special Note:
- it may be helpful
to practise making different shapes with your body first
- get children
to show you the many shapes they can make their bodies into
- don't forget
high, low, thin, wide, curled, straight, smooth, bumpy, etc.
You will need:
- a large-sized
play space
- music
What to do:
- explain to children
that snowflakes are very special
- no two snowflakes
are ever the same
- they may look
the same because they are so small, but if you look at them with a
magnifying glass, you will see how different each snowflake is
- they are made
of many different shapes and sizes
- tell children
that they are to imagine that they are a dancing snowflake
- play the music
and encourage children to dance or drift or fly around as a snowflake
- when the music
stops, they are to freeze into a beautiful shape
- play the music
again and encourage children to drift around again
- then stop music
and say, "Freeze!"
- children should
be encouraged to be a different shape each time they freeze
