You will need:

• a brown paper bag for each child
• assorted treasure found in the playground or other outdoor area, or scraps of interesting things that can be glued on to paper easily
• glue (glue sticks for paper or lightweight objects, white glue for heavier items)

 

What to do:

1. Fold paper in half.

 

 

 

2. Fold edges in towards middle.

 

 

 

 

 

3. Fold bottom flaps up on either side of hat.

 

 

 

 

 

4. Decorate.

 

 

 

N.B. If folding is too difficult, buy plain party hats from a store and let children decorate them.

OR

Use sturdy paper plates and attach lengths of yarn or ribbon to either side and encourage children to decorate.
