You will need:
- a background
paper for each child
- one large
dark blue circle for each child (policeman’s body)
- one medium
circle for each child (policeman’s head)
- one cap for
each child from black or dark blue construction paper
- white glue
or glue sticks
- crayons
- children’s
craft scissors
- scraps of
paper
- gold or silver
glitter
What to do:
- pass out the
background papers to children
- explain that
they are going to make a policeman/womanshow the circle for the head
and the one for the body
- pass out glue
and circles and encourage children to glue them onto their background
papers making sure to leave enough room to draw on arms and legs
- pass out hats
and encourage children to glue them on
- pass out crayons
and get children to ‘finish’ their policemen (ie. hair, eyes,
nose, mouuth, arms, legs, shoes, etc.)
- encourage
children to draw something for the policeman/woman to be doing (ie.
directing traffic, helping a child, walking down the street)
- at the end,
encourage children to place a small amount of glue on the chest of
their policeman/woman (or on his/her hat) so they can make
a shiny badge for him/her
- take the glitter
around and sprinkle a little amount on their glue blob (tell children
to gently blow on it tohelp the glue dry and to try not to touch it
as it will smudge!)
- label work
- clean up
