You will need:
- 1/2 of bottom
portion of an egg carton for each child
- white glue
- pipe cleaners
- fabric, yarn,
ribbon, lace scraps
- crayons or
water based markers
What to do:
- pre-cut egg
carton bases in half (an exacto knife works well ADULTS ONLY
PLEASE)
- pre-cut up
pipe cleaners into antennae (pieces about 2" long)
- pre-cut up
small squares of fabric, lengths of yarn, ribbon, etc.
- pass out the
1/2 egg cartons to each child
- explain that
they are going to make a pretty or handsome little caterpillar by
gluing on assorted pieces of items available
- encourage
them to poke the antennae into one end for the caterpillar’s head
and perhaps to draw on some facial featurees if they like (you
may need to help small children poke the pipe cleaners into the egg
carton)
- label work
- clean up
