Dinosaur with Skin
(large sheet of heavy paper)
You will need:
a large sheet of mural paper
(ie. brown paper or craft paper)
a thick marker
(ie. black)
lots of egg cartons
white glue
scissors
What to do:
pre-draw a large dinosaur-shape onto the paper using a thick marker pen
(try and make a large, open mouth)
draw patches’ onto dinosaur’s body
cut it out
pre-separate egg carton cups
tell children that they are going to give the dinosaur some bumpy skin
each child chooses a ‘patch’ to cover with egg carton cups using glue
after the dinosaur’s skin is covered with egg carton cups, it must be left to dry for a day
then it may be proudly displayed on the wall
older cildren may choose to make patches of a uniform color so that patterns emerge
white cups may be used for the edge of the mouth to look like teeth
other egg cups could be painted with ‘cassein’ paint to become ‘toe nails’ on the dinosaur’s feet!
