You will need:
- a large play
space
- music
- one candy or
small treat for each child individually wrapped in Christmas wrapping
paper
Special Note:
- don't play this
game with groups larger than 8 to 10 as the children become impatient
and will lose interest in the game
- it's fun to
vary the treats so that the children are curious to see what the next
person will receive
- however, be
careful to keep the prizes similar so that no feelings are hurt
Other Suggested Treats:
- Christmas
cookies
(have to be careful they don't break)
- suckers
- licorice
sticks
- small wrapped
sweets
- rice krispies
squares
- small individually
wrapped chocolate bars
- small candy
canes
- dinky cars
- costume jewellery
- party favours,
ie. whistles, hats, games, etc.
What to do:
- prior to the
game, candies or treats must be wrapped the first candy or treat is
wrapped in Christmas paper; the second candy is then placed next to
the wrapping of the first candy, and then it is wrapped; the third
candy goes next to the second candy's wrapper, and so on until one
large package exists
- children sit
in a circle on the floor
- tell the children
that they will be passing this special Christmas parcel around the
circle to each of their friends
- at the same
time, you will be playing some music
- when the music
stops, the person holding the parcel gets to peal off the first layer
of wrapping paper to reveal a Surprise
- put your surprise
down in front of you for later and get ready to pass the package along
to your neighbour
- play the music
again
- stop the music
when you can see that the parcel is landing with someone who has not
yet received a surprise
- when all children
have unwrapped their surprises, the game is over
- now it's time
to enjoy your treat
