You will need:
- toilet paper rolls for each
child
- a cone-shaped paper cup for
each child
- an exacto knife
(adults only please)
- popsicle sticks
- crayons, paint or water-based
markers
- masking tape pre-dispensed
in small pieces on a piece of wax paper (2 pieces tape per mouse)
- scotch tape for attaching
whiskers
- glue stick for attaching ears
and eyes
- yarn for tail
- rolly eyes (optional
- need white glue to glue them on, takes awhile to dry)
- skinny strips of black paper
for whiskers
- fun fur, paper, etc. for
covering body
- scissors and hole punch
What to do:
- pre-poke 4 slits
in the paper roll for the popsicle sticks to be inserted into later on
for the legs (use the exacto knife ADULTS ONLY PLEASE)
- break popsicle
sticks in half for shorter legs
- a hole punch may
be used to make a hole at the other end of the roll so that children may
attach a tail later on (it is easier for younger children to simply
tape the tail on rather than trying to tie it or twist it on)
- when all the necessary
pieces for the animals are cut out, they are ready for assembly
- poke popsicle
stick 'legs' into pre-cut holes
- glue rolly eyes
onto cone cup or glue on paper eyes or draw eyes
- attach whiskers
to tip of cone cup with tape
- attach ears
- tape cone cup
onto head end of roll
- then comes the
decorating of the body by use of crayons, fabric scraps, paint, etc. followed
by the addition of a tail
- some ideas for
tails include twist ties, pipe cleaners, yarn, paper, string
- label work and
clean up
