You will need:
- a styrofoam
cup for each child
- one piece
of white paper approx. 8 1/2" x 11" for each child
- children's
scissors for each child
- one piece
of tinsel approx. 6" long for each child
- white glue
- pencil crayons
(wax
crayons are too thick for the small detail necessary)
What to do:
- encourage
children to make as much as possible on their own
- (younger children
may require an adult to precut the head, wings, and book for them)
- fold paper
in half and draw a wingshape on the fold (see
diagram)
it may help to tell children to think of it as a giant ear or butterfly
wing.
- cut out wings
on fold
- draw a head
on the fold (see
illustration)
- cut head out
on fold
- open up head
and color one side for the angel's hair
- fold it back
in half (with
the hair inside)
and draw a face on the front on one of the blank sides of the circles
using pencil crayons
- turn the styrofoam
cup over and glue blank circle onto the bottom (now
the top) of
the styrofoam cup letting the face side pop up off the cup base
- spread wings
out flat and decorate with glue and glitter
- glue wings
onto the back of the styrofoam cup letting the edges stick out freely
- cut out book
of the fold of the remaining white paper
- color book
and add glitter if desired
- glue book
onto the front of the angel's body so that the centre
(or folded part) of
the book sticks out from the angel's body a little (gives
book some depth)
- glue length
of tinsel around base of angel's robe
- label work
- clean up
