You will need:
- one hula hoop for each
child
- a large playspace
- a tape deck or musical
instrument
What to do:
- place hoops randomly
on floor
- children skip around
as squirrels gathering nuts while the music is playing
- when the music stops
children must quickly jump into hoops (tree holes) and crouch
down as if hiding
- each time the music
stops, a hoop is removed from the grouping
- squirrels may share
a hole with someone else
- as the number of children
sharing one hoop increases, change the rules to only having one foot
in the hoop
- eventually entire group
will be sharing one hoop!
