You will need:
- background paper for each
child
- two circles of paper
(one cut slightly larger than the other for the head and body),
for each child
- one foxtail
or one spruce twig for each child (for the tail of the squirrel)
N.B.
Beware of allergies!
- white glue
- children's scissors
- crayons
- a piece of making tape
(placed on wax paper ready for use)
What to do:
- pre-cut the two circles
for 2 and 3 year olds if necessary
- explain to children
the idea of creating a squirrel using one circle of paper as it's
head and the other as it's body
- let children glue circles
onto background paper
- pass out foxtails or
spruce twigs (one to each child) and explain that this is the
squirrel's bushy tail
- let children glue on
their squirrel's tail (they may need to tape it)
- encourage children
to draw on other features, ie. eyes, mouth, nose, ears, feet, etc.
- older children may
like to draw in a background ie. a tree, some grass, a sun, etc.
- put names on work and
display
- clean up
