Monkey
(cereal or chip box)
You will need:
- one panel of a cereal or chip
box for each child
- a pattern of a peanut shape
(monkey’s body and head)
- 5 pipe cleaners for each child
- a hole punch
- scissors
- a 6 or 7" length of yarn
for each child
- crayons
- scrap paper (for
monkey’s ears)
- white glue
What to do:
- pre-cut out the basic monkey
body shape for younger children, older children may enjoy doing this themselves
- punch holes for the yarn
at the top, the two arms, the two legs and the tail
- pre-tie the yarn in the top
hole for the younger children so that they can easily orient themselves
to the ‘top’ of their monkey
- encourage children to slip
the pipe cleaners through the pre-punched holes and twist them to create
the arms, legs and tail
- children should then draw
on eyes, nose, mouth, etc.
- ears can be created from scrap
paper and glued on lastly
- label work
- clean up
