Cat and Mouse
(play parachute)
You will need:
- a medium to large play space
- a group of children
- a play parachute
What to do:
- children spread around the
playchute holding it with fingers on the top and thumbs underneath the
edge of the chute
- sit on floor on knees or bottoms,
one child is chosen to be "it" or the "Cat", another child is chosen to
be the "Mouse"
- both chosen children go under
the parachute while the other children left around the perimeter move
the parachute up and down with their arms to create ripples
- the cat chases the mouse on
hands and knees under the vibrating parachute
- when the cat catches the mouse,
they exchange places and another child is chosen to become the new "Mouse"
- game continues until all
have had a turn (to eliminate feelings of hard-done-by-ness let last
child become "Cat" for the first child chosen who becomes the "Mouse")
